Porn – the harlot’s secret weapon

Part 20 of the Harlot of Babylon Series

Nothing has done more damage to the last day church than pornography. Porn didn’t exist until the invention of photography, just a few years ago, relatively speaking. There were paintings and statutes in the past. There were places where men could go and drink and watch dancers. Places that were off limits to Christians.

Today, however, with a couple clicks of the mouse or taps of our phones, we can enter the world of the harlot herself. Forget the paintings and statues and pubs full of people. Now, in complete privacy, we can view real people, engaged in every conceivable demonic act of sexual immorality that the harlot can dream up. Porn is largely responsible for the collapse of morality in our culture today. It is also the primary driver of the explosion of the transgender movement that is being forced upon us by everything from Hollywood to our schools and our government.

The legalization of porn has been devastating. In the last days, unlimited porn is available to everyone with a cell phone. No one, in the past, saw this coming. The harlot has fully exploited this curse to make the nations drunk on the wine of her sexual immorality.

I have been in many men’s advances, men only Bible studies, men only prayer meetings, and deliverance meetings. I know how widespread this curse has become inside the church. (I suppose it is also widespread with women, but I don’t go to their events.) When the Bible says, “Come out of her, my people,” it is definitely including the harlot’s secret weapon, porn. Here are a few comments on being set free from this problem and many other addictions that we have in the church today.

Get with other Christians who address this evil. Attend healing and deliverance meetings in your area and ask for prayer. Admit your problem to a few close prayer warriors whom you trust. Those who will not condemn you or expose your sin to others. Most Christians are not mature enough to handle other people’s sin without being judgmental or worse, becoming gossips. You do not need to confess this in front of everyone.

Commit to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. This means suffering. The Holy Spirit will give you the grace and power to succeed but only if you surrender to His work in you. It will hurt. It will be painful. It will mean death to self. This is the Christian life. Death to self. The reward is the fruit of the Spirit. A life filled with love, joy, peace, and longsuffering on the inside and a life of denial of the flesh on the outside. This is the only way. There are no shortcuts or easy fixes. Failure to submit to the will of God in our lives will leave God no choice but to cast us into tribulation. Remember, the purpose of the tribulation is to get us to surrender to Him. Do it now or do it later. It will happen.

Again, remember the words of Peter.

I Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.

May we all arm ourselves with the same purpose as Jesus. He who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. Amen.
