The Harlot is sexual immorality
Part 15 of the Harlot of Babylon Series
In the description of the harlot, immorality is mentioned more times than anything else. Immorality means illicit sexual intercourse, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc. Figuratively, it can mean idolatry. Here are some of the verses on the harlot’s immorality.
Rev 14:8 And another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who has made all the nations drink of the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
Rev 17:1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality.”
Rev 17:4 The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality.
Rev 18:3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.”
Rev 18:9 “And the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her, will weep and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning.
Rev 19:2 Because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.”
The harlot’s first nickname from Revelation chapter 11 is Sodom and it refers to the lust of the flesh. Our society is consumed with sexual immorality today and it seems to be getting worse and worse. We see it on network TV shows and movies. We are constantly hammered with the transgender movement. The U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage. Many Christians have already been persecuted in America for not hosting gay weddings or baking cakes for gay weddings. These brave Christians have already stood against the harlot, and it has cost them dearly.
The harlot’s deception can and does enter the church. Revelation says she does it through teachers. These are the same teachers mentioned in Matthew chapter 24 that mislead many. In the letter to the church of Pergamum, it says they had some in the church who were teaching Balaam.
Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.
This was going on in the church of Thyatira, also.
Rev 2:20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality.
The Lord gave the church of Thyatira time to repent but she did not want to repent of her immorality! They didn’t promote Jezebel. All they did was tolerate Jezebel. Jezebel is sexual immorality and transgenderism. How many churches today are already tolerating her? I know of two churches in my area that have lesbian pastors who are married to each other. When the big church denominations come together for their board meetings, the biggest issue is tolerating gay marriage. Listen to what the Lord says He will do to this church.
22 Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.
Throw the church into great tribulation! Kill her children with pestilence! This is being spoken to a church. Now listen to what the Lord says to the ones that overcome Jezebel.
24 But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them—I place no other burden on you. 25 Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come.
I place no other burden on you! Just don’t tolerate the teaching of Jezebel. Nevertheless, hold fast what you have until I come!
Jezebel killed the prophets of God. Remember, the blood of the prophets is on the harlot. The spirit of Jezebel has been corrupting mankind for the harlot for thousands of years. She continues today.
May the Lord grant us mercy and grace to stand against the teaching of Balaam and Jezebel! May we hold fast what we have until He comes! Amen.
